30 in 30: Day 3!

A while back I attempted to complete a 30 day challenge on tumblr. I was unsuccessful. What happened? I have no clue. Instead of trying to complete this challenge again I have decided to add a few of these posts to my 30 in 30.

Dear Mom and Dad,

Growing up I never would have imagined I would have so much love and respect for each of you individually. As a kid, things look totally different. Everything is about "me, me, me", which causes the "I hate my patents", "Nobody understands me" and the infamous "I hate my parents". As the years have gone by I have gained so much understanding and it's really no longer about me.

Truth is, there is no manual handed to parents the day they leave the hospital with their newborn in tote. There is no definitive way to raise children. You guys did the best you could with what you had.

Mom, your strength is impeccable. To withstand a divorce and the death of Jim amongst other obstacles, speaks volumes! You are honestly who I get it from. Your patience is a virtue I strive to obtain. Your unconditional love for those around you exudes daily.

Papi, your sense of humor is like no other. You make me laugh like no other. Although we have not always had the best relationship, I thank God that didn't give up. I see your willingness to remain connected. I also thank God for blocking cancer from taking you away too soon.

The saying is, you can't pick your relatives, or something like that. LOL. To be honest I would not have picked any other set of parents. I have learned so much from you two. Your lives have been examples of strength, hard work, faith and love.

I love you both immensely.
